Up On The Roof

As you can see from the numerous pictures on my blog, Brody loves to be... outside. And so does Kenz. When my grandgirl comes over the first thing we usually do is... go outside... to play.  Even if  I'm dog tired I get a boost. Her energy is contagious!

We play tag, hide the objects, kick ball, and hide and seek. We make up wild n' crazy games.  Kenz knows our yard by heart. She's been playing there for seven years. Her mommy grew up in the same yard.

When Kenz was five, I found a simple cheap rocket launcher at Marshalls. We had so much fun with that toy until we shot all the rockets into space. The other day I found a similiar thing at Wally Walmarts for 11.99.  This kit came with a launcher and only one spaceship that attaches. It shoots, according to the box... sixty feet in the air.

I picked Kenz up from school and surprized her with the find. We went out into the cool afternoon wind, and prepared for take-off.  Bop.  To make it shoot you jump on the  pump thing  Bop. Bop. Bop. One foot or two?  After awhile we figured out how to make it soar.

Then the wind really kicked up.  B-o-p.  The rocket was on the roof. This used to happen with our old set. Kenz and I looked at each other and laughed. In the  next second, she was off and running.... I'll go get Daba.

For the life of me, I will not climb the ladder and go on the roof. It's too scary.

Grandpa Daba was watching the news, sprawled out on his leather couch. Only for his grandchildren would he... without hesitation... get up, get the ladder out and go rocket hunting on the roof in the wind, after a long day.

I know why he doesn't mind doing this heroic act.  Look at the picture below.

No matter what... grandchildren have a way of putting your heart... up on the roof.

Don't you agree?

Very true! Our grandkids have a way of getting us into all kinds of situations.

I love playing outdoors with the grandkids. We had a lovely day on Sunday. We played blongo ball, and the kids rode their scooters.
