A Writer's Work Is Play

I went to a wonderful Writer's Conference this weekend. Adding to the artistic clutter on my desk is a whole new stack of books that I purchased in the makeshift bookstore. After each speaker's presentation on subjects ranging from 'Getting Published' to 'Telling the Truth', I was drawn like a magnet to the book tables where I anguished, while deciding which chocolate I wanted from the box. We were allowed to bite off the corners and browse, so that helped.
One of my fastest reads (and funniest) is one I bought for Kenz, "The Bear Who Came To Stay." The writer, Allen Woodman was at the conference and explained in his stand up comic style that his book is sort of a reversal of "Goldilocks and The Three Bears." The Bear moves in and the family moves out. I can't wait to read it to Kenz, so I am going to get my shoes on, grab my purse and drive over to her house to read her a bedtime story. As with most of the books that I read to Kenz, her reply after we are done will probably not be the normal one---"Read it again Nana," but it will be ---"Nana, now, let's play it! " I wonder who will get to be the bear. I kinda hope it's me cause then I can lay on her bed and rest, at least on page six where the little sister says , "He liked my bed because the mattress was soft, so I slept on the floor." zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
