Nana AGAIN!

I got the news on a Sunday afternoon while standing in front of the eggs at Trader Joes. My phone rang and without looking at the number I knew it was going to be my husband, asking me what the delay was.

He didn't know that I had first gone to Marshall's to do some---inspirational browsing.

Marshall's store was full of love; red Valentine hearts were dancing on placemats, towels, plates and candies. Even a few Easter bunnies were popping up, pastel colored, lovely little Easter things. Wasn't it just Christmas a couple weeks ago? Oh yes, there were leftover angels on the bottom shelf, blowing trumpets, announcing the New Year, I suppose.

The Clearance section was vast, store-wide, signs were everywhere. I flipped through the medium racks loaded with crazy leftover shirts and jackets. Ahh! A bright green quilted coat, a St. Patrick's day color; it was odd that I would choose such a lively, celebratory shade of green.

"What do you want, hun? I'll be home in a few minutes, " I told my husband, answering my cell on the second ring, after putting two dozen organic brown eggs in the shopping cart.

"Mike is here, he wants to talk to you."

Quiet. Phone shuffling. Me waiting for Mike to ask me to pick him up some chicken breasts or frozen broccoli.

"Mom, Jodi's pregnant. She took the test today. She's really excited, a little shocked."

More quiet. I am not stunned, but surprised, surprised in a pleasant way. The couple really want children. They love Kenz and are ready to pour out their hearts of love on a child of their own.

"I am so happy for the two of you," was all I could think to say.

It wasn't until I was driving home, that it hit me big time. I am happy for me. I'm going to be a Nana, again. This is cool , a brand new person coming this year, coming in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hearing the news made the ordinary January day a special day, a holiday.

I couldn't wait to tell Kenz.
