Makes Cents

At Montessori, Kenz is learning about money. In the December newsletter the director wrote, The children were also introduced to money and it's origins, followed by some new money oriented jobs. Our concepts are fairly basic and include naming the coins and bills, as well as what money is used for. I just love hearing the different ideas about how money can be spent.

I think this makes alot of sense. Children, very early on, should be contemplating the value of money, how to spend it and how to save it. Over the last couple of decades, plastic cards seem to have replaced the real thing. Sometimes days can go by without me even touching coins and bills. I 'm so used to using my debit card. Kenzie's worksheet (above) got me to thinking about something. This month whenever I shop with her, I'll plan to use the paper and metal. This way we both can see money in action. I'm sure she'll have a few things to teach her Nana.

That's a great idea, I think Noah and I will have this conversation as well.

Great thoughts...

Superb idea! I've started money-education earlier part of this year too... now they are more sensible when they request to buy something....
