Winter Love

There are times when Joni Mitchell sings in my head... and the seasons they go round and round and the painted ponies go up and down. We're captive on the carousel of time. We can't return we can only look behind from where we came.....

This morning I am looking over my February 2011 pictures cooking up a blog to serve up to the first day of March.

February has certainly been a winter month. We do get them kind of days in the desert. But they come and go quickly. And they aren't usually as COLD as they have been. We had more than a  few nights with the guard your three P's warning... that is protect your pets, pipes and plants.

Yesterday though, in the balmy wonderful seventy degrees, Kenz and I were out in the yard kicking the soccer ball back and forth scoring goals that made crispy autumn sounds.

Look  how nicely the boot of Italy has settled in the moisture outside my window!

The day before yesterday, on Sunday, a few miles from my house, Brody was home with his mommy kicking cold white stuff that covered the green grass. By three in the afternoon, the snow was gone, the sky was blue!

Our grapefruit tree has now lost all its green leaves leaving brown sticks and yellow balls.

This February we had some other visitors. My baby brother John and his wife Sandra and their children John and Melissa came for a weekend. We all went out to Old Tucson, an old movie set. It's not exactly an amusement park, more like a museum, the kind of place you hang out at, an attraction you absorb to feel the flavor of the 1800's. It was a cold windy day, but we all had fun. Kenz and Brody had an awesome time with their second cousins from Southern California.

It really didn't matter how cold it was because love was in the air.

And there were big smiles to warm up any day!

A happy March to all!

The redbud trees are blooming where I live! But you're right. Any day when grandchildren are smiling is a good day.

We had so much snow this season that whenever the ground is exposed our 13 month old grandsons stare out the window with furrowed brows. Can't wait to show them that "white" is not the new normal.
